Tailored guidance and support optimizing a pet’s overall well-being through proper dietary choices.
Ensuring that your furry friend grows and develops to their full potential is the responsibility of every pet parent. Your pet’s development is heavily dependent on their diet and that’s why we recommend nutrition counselling. These consultations focus on what your pet is eating when they are eating and whether or not they benefit from these foods. Nutrition counselling helps all pets whether they are young, old, healthy, obese, overweight, or underweight.
Nutrition counselling is a dietary checkup. It’s a chance for your veterinarian to examine your pet’s diet and recommend modifications to improve their life. We focus on their diet, appetite, weight, and water consumption. Our veterinarians will compare your pet’s progress and development to the ideal size for their age and breed. The nutrition specialist will determine which approach to recommending for your pet. We may recommend nutritional supplements, reducing certain foods and specialized diets.
Ideally, each pet should have at least one nutrition checkup each year. If your pet has a medical condition your veterinarian may want to monitor their progress more often. If your pet is due for a nutrition checkup, call us at 905-856-7387 to schedule an appointment.
As much as it hurts to tell them no, human foods can be harmful to your pet. Your loyal companion is sometimes unable to digest certain foods and they can be allergic or poisonous to them. To ensure that food doesn’t harm them, be sure to ask your veterinarian before introducing them to new foods. Some foods that you should avoid feeding them are chocolate, raisins, onions, and coffee.
